1. How do I apply for Tour de Okinawa?
There are three ways to apply.
We accept applications though our web site and by mail (please include entry fee).
We send participants from previous Tour de Okinawa events an application form with a brochure.
Applications are accepted after we receive your entry fee.
Each race and cycling event is assigned a limited number of participants and conditions for eligibility, so please check the regulations for each race event and cycling event in detail before you apply.
2. How can I get a brochure with an application?
Please send an envelope with a 150 yen stamp requesting an application form to the Tour de Okinawa Association.
Include your name, address, age and telephone number.
*For participants over 70 years old, a health certificate is required.
*Participants under 18 years of age must produce a signature of consent from a parent or guardian.
3. Is it acceptable to use a copied application form?
We accept copied application forms.
But an application form requires information to be filled out on two sides, so please copy both sides of the application form and fill in all blanks and sign.
4. What are the important points to apply for the event?
Your correct signature, seal and entry fee are important points for application.
If your application form or entry fee is wrong, we will not accept your application.
And please make sure your entry fee is correct for the event you apply for.
† A discount is available for participants with a JCF license or JCA license.
5. How can I pay the entry fee?
Four paying methods are available.
- Application through the "sportsentry" website
If you apply through “sportsentry,” you can pay by credit card or pay at convenience stores (Lawson and Family Mart). - Application in person at the Tour de Okinawa Association office or Okinawa Ringyo (Okinawa Cycling Federation)
If you come to the Tour de Okinawa Association office or Okinawa Ringyo (Okinawa Cycling Federation) to apply in person, please bring the entry fee with the application form. - Application by mail
If you send the application form by mail, please fill out the application completely and enclose the appropriate entry fee.
6. Is a refund possible?
Once we have received your entry fee, we will not refund it, so please read the regulation carefully.
7.Is it possible to come to the Nago Civic Center by car, and where is the parking lot?
On the day of the event, a temporary parking area is available at Nago fishing port.
There is no parking lot at Tour de Okinawa (Nago Civic Center).
8. If my ID card is lost …
If your ID card is lost, please contact the NPO Tour-de-Okinawa Office.
9. What kind of bicycle is suitable?
Cyclists must follow JCF (Japan Cycling Federation) rules.
Mountain bikes, flat-handlebar bikes, bicycle with different sized front and rear wheels, and triathlon bikes with a DH (down hill) bar are not permitted.
Cyclists who participate in touring division events are allowed to use mountain bikes or road race bikes.
10. Is there a time limit assigned to the race?
Cyclists need to pass through the check points within the time limit assigned to each race. Cyclists not passing through check points within the time limit will be disqualified.
- 200km, 130km, and 85km citizens’ road race: time limit for Check Point Genka is 12:45
- 50km citizens’ road race, 50km women’s road race, 50km seniors’ road race and 50km junior high school road race: time limit for Nakao Community Center Check Point is 9:00
11. Is there a maintenance service?
The maintenance service booth will be set up near the registration area on November 7(Sat).
12. How do I get to the starting point and hotel?
A pick-up bus has been arranged for cyclists.
- For cyclists staying in Kunigami village
Cyclists will be able to go to hotels in Kunigami village from the Nago Civic Center by bus on November 7(Sat).
Also we will keep cyclists’ bicycles on November 7(Sat) and bring them to each starting point. - For cyclists not staying in Kunigami village
No Bus to Kunigami village from Nago Civic Center has been arranged on November 8th (Sun) (race day).
Cyclists have to get to the starting point of each race on their own, or take the bus which runs from the parking lot of Resort Okuma to the starting point.
† There is no space to park cars or bicycles at the Resort Okuma parking lot, so you must get to the parking lot of Okuma on your own. Please be given a ride to the Resort Okuma parking lot or take a taxi.
13. How is the transportation for the participant who participates in two events?
We have arranged for a bus to run to Kunigami village on November 7th (Sat) for participants staying at hotels in Kunigami village for participating in the 130km or 85km citizens’ road race on November 8th (Sun).
But on the day of the race, there is no transportation from hotels to the start pointing of each race event.
14. What if I am accompanied by children?
6-8year old children need to be accompanied. Children (6-11year olds) who enter the Iheya island course or Izena island course need to be accompanied.
15. How do I get meals?
The meal fee is included in the entry fee, so cyclists are able to get drinks and meals at each feeding point during the race.
16. Are there any rent-a-bicycles?
Rent-a-bicycles (mountain bikes) are arranged for.
We rent rent-a-bicycles for some events: Onna family course, Ie island course, Iheya island course and Izena island course.
17. How do I carry my personal belongings, and how do I pay accommodation fees for hotels?
Trucks will be arranged for on the day of the event and the accommodation fee is included in the entry fee.
18. Is it possible to arrange for an attendant to be accommodated?
We can arrange for accommodations for an attendant in the same hotel subject to hotel vacancy.
19. How do I transport my bicycle from mainland Japan to Okinawa?
Please use a delivery service, but make sure your hotel will accept delivery of your bicycle.
The Tour de Okinawa Association is not responsible for storing your bicycle.
And please note the air cylinders and the spare tires are not to be carried into the airplane as a baggage.
20. Is it possible to send my bicycle from the Tour de Okinawa office after the event?
We will arrange a booth at Tour de Okinawa 2009 on November 8th (Sun) for delivering your bicycle to your home.
